Welcome to my portfolio!

I am a multimedia journalist, editor, photographer, editor and soon-to-be podcaster covering the arts, health, food, culture and Asian America.  A native New Yorker, I have contributed features, reviews, and news pieces to national and regional publications such as PBS.org, Where Traveler, Bklyner.comHome Reporter and Sunset News, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Weight Watchers Magazine, Parenting, NY City News Service, New York Press and West Valley Health and Living.

After receiving a degree in English Literature and Rhetoric from Binghamton University, I joined a start-up educational publisher as Editor of third to sixth grade illustrated workbooks in math, science, and history. I managed a stable of telecommuting freelancers and oversaw art and content development through all stages of editorial production. This experience catered to my desire to educate others through quality literature, but now I wanted to create the literature, so in 2008, I began Masters coursework in health and medicine reporting at the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism.

When not taking photos, reporting or traveling, I write short stories, serve as a reading tutor to elementary students through the nonprofit, Americorps-supported Reading Partners, tutor/cook for/entertain hospitalized children as a member of Project Sunshine, assist a teacher with providing healthy eating lessons to first graders as a volunteer with the Food Bank of NY’s Cookshop Classroom program, and serve on the board of the Kiwanis Club of NYC Young Professionals, a local chapter of the international children’s nonprofit, where I coordinate programs, contribute to the club newsletter, and mentor local high school and college students.

I am available for freelance assignments in the New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
